Update 5 July 2009

Lyrics to Going Nowhere and How Does It Feel? added.  (Thanks again Rob Swinney.)  Rob is now taking a well-earned rest from the onerous task of lyric transcription, which leaves a vacancy for another willing volunteer. (Don’t all rush!)

Also, another Hall of Fame entry.

I hope everyone’s enjoying the recently added recordings.  Two more from Julian Kay will go up a soon as I find the time.

Response to the annual call for the GBBF gathering has been under-whelming as usual.  Looks like it’ll be just Eric and me again.

Update 16 June 2009

Lyrics to City Love and Dummy You Are (thanks Rob Swinney) and the first of Julian Kay’s recordings added.

Update 14 June 2009

A new recording, with three more on the way!  Rob Swinney’s tape from the Dolly can be found here.  Julian Kay has sent me copies of two Horn recordings and another from the Red Lion, Watford, which I’ll do my best to put up tomorrow.

Update 9 June 2009

Another fan top ten (well eleven actually).

Update 7 June 2009

Lyrics for Abingdon Park Incident and Backlash added.  (Thanks Rob Swinney.)  Coming soon - Rob’s recording from the Dolly.

Update 25 May 2009

A little more from Simon Poole after a nostalgic trip to Oxford.

Update 19 May 2009

Tinderfish will be playing in Watford on Saturday 6 June as part of the Watford LIVE! Community arts festival.  They’ll be at St Mary’s Square, probably towards the end of the afternoon.

Update 16 May 2009

All the Never Never audio material is now available for free download.  I haven’t had time to do the Vetos stuff yet.

Update 15 May 2009

Bryan’s tape (live and studio) and the Never Again cassette now available for free download.

Update 10 May 2009

Well, about time too!  Sorry folks - the pressures of life here in Cumbria are such that something always gets in the way of updating web sites and replying to emails.  I think I’m up to date now, but, as usual, if you’ve sent me an email and not had a reply yet, it’s probably slipped though my net.  Feel free to send me a reminder.

To business....

As you would expect after ten months, there’s a little bit to report. Firstly, by now everyone should have bought a copy of the quite wonderful Tinderfish album.  If not, shame on you!  It’s available from Play.com, where it’s a mere £5.95.  It’s the best new music you’ll hear this year.  Guaranteed.

I’m in the process of uploading the entire collection of NNB and related audio material to the free web space that Google are giving away.  It’ll take a little time to put it all up, but you’ll see download links at the bottom of each sub page in the Recordings section of the site.  I’m still feeling my way with Google Sites, so forgive the basic appearance of the download pages.  It’s still a much better way of sharing the music than the old Googlemail method though.

You’ll have seen the postings from John Ryall on the Forum.  Well, John has sent me his recording, which is available for free download now.  Thanks John - another gem for us all to enjoy.

Also, Simon Forrester has transferred his recording to CD and sent me a copy.  An essential addition to any music collection.

We have some new entries in the Hall of Fame, some more snippets on the Info page and a ticket and some adverts in the Gallery.

Finally, here’s advance warning of the annual NNB fan gathering at the Great British Beer Festival at Earl’s Court.  Attendance in previous years has, frankly, been disappointing (er.. just Eric and me actually), so try to make it this year.  (Yes, Dave Awcock, this means you.  Cropredy indeed!)

That’s all folks.  Expect the next update in the very distant future. (Apologies in advance.)

Update  29 June 2008

I’ve just had an email from Andrew McCrorie-Shand, the former Druid keyboard player.  Andrew, Cedric Sharpley and Neil Brewer have formed a new band called Tinderfish.  They’re halfway through recording an album of new songs which will be available exclusively via the Internet later in the summer. Gigs may follow too.  These guys have quite a musical pedigree, so the album is sure to be excellent.  It goes without saying that everyone is strongly encouraged to buy it.  Keep a close eye on the Tinderfish web site for more news as it develops.

Also, I’ve finished transferring Bryan’s tape to CD and corrected a mistake in the track list.

Update 10 June 2008

Well, I’ve eventually found the time to update the site and I’m pleased to say that the update is a significant one.  We have an interview with Bryan Fitzpatrick and a new recording from the Horn of Plenty.  In addition, there are some new entries in the Hall of Fame and some more Memories.  Finally, Eric and I will be at the GBBF on Friday 8th August if anyone fancies a beer.  Email me for meet-up details.

Update 18 February 2008

Bryan Fitzpatrick found!  Out of the blue, I had an email from Bryan the other day.  He’d been listening to a Never Never Band tape from the Horn of Plenty, which inspired him to call his old mate Neil Brewer.  Neil told him about the web site and he emailed me ‘in a state of shock’ having seen it, offering to supply as much info as he can remember.

Bryan lives in Bristol and has been playing with Marty Wilde for thirteen years.

From what he’s told me about his Horn tape, it seems it’s not one we have already.  ‘A terrible recording, but it captures the spirit of the band’  according to Bryan.

Bryan and I will be doing a Q&A session via email in a week or so.  If there’s anything in particular anyone would like to know, email me and I’ll add it to the list of questions.

In the meantime, have a look here for a picture and here for a YouTube video.

Also today, we have a new entrant to the Hall of Fame.

Finally, it’s time we started making plans for a meeting at the Great British Beer Festival in August.  Anyone up for it this year?

Update 11 November 2007 (at last!)

Some more Bryan Fitzpatrick information (thanks Ian Boreham).

Pictures of the (former) Red Lion, Bicester (thanks Steve Cannon and Dave Awcock).

A Penny Farthing gig list from 1982 (thanks Mike Poole and Dave Awcock).

Update 9 September 2007

Nothing new to report really, but I thought I’d better let you know that the site is still active.  There’s an update on the Links page, but it has no NNB relevance.
